COVID-19 Vaccines: Fact vs Fiction

Lehigh Valley Public Media (PBS39) presents Community Conversation, a series of forums that address today's issues impacting communities in the Greater Lehigh Valley and beyond.

The latest edition, COVID-19 Vaccines: Fact vs Fiction, aired LIVE at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 4.

With input from local healthcare experts, physicians, state agency representatives, and others, the program examined the rollout of vaccines and the issues of supply and demand as millions in Pennsylvania become eligible in the first phase of distribution. It also explores impact on seniors, communities of color, schools and the workplace.

Coronavirus relief continues for housing and student loans

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announces it will continue to support renters, homeowners, and student loan borrowers through programs to reduce the financial impact related to the pandemic.

Additionally, the FTC reminds everyone that scammers are paying attention to this news and may try to take advantage of you.

Community-Based Solutions Helping Pennsylvanians 65-plus Access the COVID-19 Vaccine

The PA Department of Health has launched an eligibility tool, called Your Turn, to give anyone who signs up a reminder when it is their turn to receive the vaccine and guides them how to seek an appointment from a local provider.

Older adults who have questions about vaccine availability in their community and how to make an appointment may also call the Department of Health hotline at 1-877-724-3258 to get help.

Secretary of Aging Robert Torres also recommends older adults contact their local Area Agencies on Aging for assistance navigating the COVID-19 vaccination process.

Additionally, PACE participants can contact its Call Center to get assistance from the COVID-19 Special Scheduling Unit for obtaining vaccines.

Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Food Assistance

If you are in immediate need of assistance, PA 211 can help.

Start by searching their online resource database.

 You can also text your zip code to 898-211 to message with a live resource specialist.

You can also call 2-1-1 for live help, but please note that they are experiencing high call volumes and wait times are longer than normal.

You can also access the Department of Agriculture website for information on Food Banks that are working on the frontlines to offer food assistance services throughout the Commonwealth.
